Today, UKRTRUBOIZOL is a company with a full cycle of pipe production, including manufacturing, processing, insulation and supply of pipe products for engineering networks, energy, construction and industry.

Today, Ukrtruboizol solves not only the problem of pipe insulation, but also the creation of new promising industries related to this area.

With the launch of the steel pipe production line, Ukrtruboizol became Ukraine’s largest producer of large-diameter longitudinal SAW steel pipes with external anticorrosion and internal anticorrosion and/or smooth coating for main gas and oil pipelines.

Ukrtruboizol is a single pipe plant that has a whole range of equipment for the full technological cycle of large-diameter pipes (LDP) production for main pipelines.

The main difference What distinguishes our new line from other production facilities in Ukraine is that it is equipped with modern equipment for the full technological cycle of large-diameter pipes for main gas and oil pipelines. The production process includes one of the most important operations expansion.

Since its inception, the company has grown from a few like-minded people united by a common idea to a recognized leader in the anti-corrosion coating market.

At present, UKRTRUBOIZOL ranks 1st among Ukrainian enterprises in this industry (according to the National Business Rating and the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine).

Our products are certified for compliance with the requirements of GOST 20295-85, GOST 10706-76, GOST 10705-80, GOST 10704-91 and the Technical Regulations for Pressure Equipment, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 27 of January 16, 2019.

A line for the production of longitudinal SAW steel pipes Ø406-1422 mm with a wall thickness of 6 to 24 mm and a length of up to 12 meters from steel of strength class up to K60.

The capacity of the new line, depending on the product range, is up to 25 thousand tons per year.

Four lines for applying external insulation with extruded polyethylene:

To date, the capacity of 3 lines for applying external insulation with extruded polyethylene ranges from 100 to 300 kilometers of pipes per month, depending on the diameter.

The capacity of the polyurethane insulation line is 40-50 kilometers of pipes per month. The capacity of the internal epoxy coating line is 100-150 kilometers of pipes per month.

The new shop’s design capacity allows it to produce up to 3.5 km of polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 1200 mm and 12 km of pre-insulated pipes with a diameter of 133 mm per month.

Steel pipes renovations:

The company carries out a full range of work to restore pipes that have been in service.

  • Incoming inspection

  • Cleaning, defect detection and repair of pipes (welding, surfacing, grinding, cutting out damaged areas, welding coils, facing, manufacturing factory chamfers).
  • Operational quality control of pipe repair and acceptance radiographic and ultrasonic inspection in accordance with GOST 14782-86 and GOST 7512-82.

History of UKTRUBOIZOL

History

UKRTRUBOIZOL began its journey as a company specializing in the insulation of steel pipes with extruded polyethylene. Initially, production was focused on pipes with a diameter of Ø57 – Ø325 mm, and all work was performed on a single production line.

Thanks to investments in technology and production development, the company has significantly expanded its capabilities and reached a new level.

Today, UKRRUBOIZOL produces a wide range of insulating coatings for pipelines using:

✓ Extruded polyethylene protects pipes from corrosion, mechanical damage and moisture.
✓ Polyurethane insulation (PU foam insulation) is an effective solution for heating networks that ensures minimal heat loss.
✓ Epoxy coatings are an anti-corrosion protection for pipes operating in difficult conditions.
✓ Polypropylene coating – high resistance to mechanical wear and aggressive environments.

The size of insulated pipes has also expanded significantly – the company now works with diameters ranging from Ø25 to Ø1420 mm, which allows it to meet the most diverse customer requests in various industries.

The company developed its own know-how during the first steps.

These include the original technology of combined application of two layers of insulation, a rolling system using compressed air, and induction furnaces, where pipes are heated by industrial frequency currents and cooled by air.

At present, the research and production enterprise is the developer and owner of three Technical Specifications for the application of insulating coatings, two for the exterior coating with extruded polyethylene and one for the interior epoxy coating.

Subsequently, UKRTRUBOIZOL took a strategic step forward by launching the production of large-diameter longitudinal welded steel pipes, which marked a new stage in the company’s development.

Since 2021, the company has also mastered manufacturing:

✓ Large-diameter welded steel pipes for main pipelines and industrial facilities.
✓ Polyethylene pipes (PE) for water supply, sewerage and gas pipelines.
✓ Pre-insulated pipes with polyurethane insulation (PU) for heating networks.

With the expansion of production, the company was able to provide a full range of services – from manufacturing pipe products to their comprehensive anti-corrosion protection and insulation.

Work on pipe insulation with extruded polyethylene began in 2001. The company applied two-layer insulation to pipes Ø57-325 mm.

In 2002, the range of diameters increased to 530 mm, and in 2004 – to 1020 mm.
In January 2005, UKRTRUBOIZOL, together with the VNIIST Institute for Oil Transportation (Moscow, Russia) and E World Ltd (UK), developed and put into production a new three-layer extruded polyethylene external insulation.

In 2006, Ukrtruboizol acquired the former Mechanical Repair Plant in Meliorativne village, where all pipe insulation production facilities were moved after reconstruction. Technologies for applying external polyurethane pipe coating were also introduced there as part of a gas production project on the Ukrainian Black Sea shelf. These technologies, developed and implemented by the company’s specialists in cooperation with E World Ltd (UK), were applied in Ukraine for the first time. The company’s productivity has increased by 1.5 times in the new premises.

The year 2007 was devoted to the reconstruction of the administrative and economic building, and comfortable working conditions were created for the staff. A site for equipment manufacturing was organized, and the mechanical and thermal departments were restored and modernized.
In 2008, the company put into operation a line for applying epoxy insulation to the inner surface of pipes Ø 89-1020 mm.
In 2009, a section for the restoration (renovation) of pipes Ø 219-1420 mm that were in operation was put into operation. The restoration of such pipes is carried out in the factory using a specially developed technology that allows restoring the bearing capacity of the pipe body and its corrosion resistance.

After restoration, the pipes are certified, which allows their reuse. If necessary, the restored pipes can be insulated with polyethylene, polyurethane, or an internal epoxy coating in accordance with the repair project.

The largest extruded polyethylene coating line at the plant was put into operation. The line insulates pipes with diameters ranging from Ø530 to Ø1420 mm, with a maximum capacity of 60 thousand tons per year.
The smallest extruded polyethylene line at the plant, which is radically different from all others in terms of application principle, was put into operation. Pipe diameters range from Ø32 to Ø89 mm. The principle of application is the drawing method. Maximum productivity 4 thousand tons per year
Commissioning of a line for the production of chemically cross-linked heat shrinkable cuffs MTU 120 to protect welded joints of pipeline sections. The line produces heat-shrinkable cuffs and tape for pipes with diameters ranging from Ø32 to Ø1420 mm. Technical specifications were developed and a certificate of conformity was obtained for this type of product.
Modernization of the internal coating line, expanded the range of pipes to be coated. The line is capable of applying epoxy insulation to pipes with diameters ranging from Ø32 to Ø1420 mm.

Commissioning of the hydraulic press. The equipment is designed for testing steel pipes with a diameter of Ø 426 to Ø 1420 mm for leakage and strength, according to regulatory and technical documentation.

Start of construction of a line for the production of large-diameter longitudinal welded steel pipes.

In November 2020, a line for the production of longitudinal SAW steel pipes with a diameter of Ø406-1422 mm, wall thickness of 6-24 mm, and length of up to 12 meters from steel of strength class up to K60 was put into operation. The capacity of the new line is up to 25 thousand tons per year, depending on the product range.

In June 2021, Ukrtruboizol started installing a hydromechanical expander for expanding pipes with diameters ranging from 406.4 mm to 1422 mm and wall thicknesses up to 24 mm. This equipment provides high strength and precise pipe geometry along the entire length. There are no analogues of such equipment in Ukraine.

The fundamental work has been completed, and transportation equipment is being installed.

The next stage is the installation of a hydraulic power plant and an actuator – a cone-shaped expansion head with working segments that ensure uniform expansion of the pipe diameter along the entire length.

Application

The pipes insulated by our company were used for the construction of the Zhulino-Nadvirna oil pipeline (connecting the Druzhba oil pipeline system with the Nadvirna Oil Refinery of Naftochimik Prykarpattya), construction of the Dzhankoy-Armyansk, Suvorovo-Zaliznychne, Yalta-Foros, Shebelinka-Dnipropetrovsk-Odesa, Brody-State Border gas pipelines, as well as gasification of the cities of Sudak, Shcholkino, Belgorod-Dniester and many other facilities.

Pipes with our coating were used in their projects by large enterprises that are part of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Interpipe Corporation, Lehman-Ukraine, Transnefteprodukt, the Russian company Transnefteprodukt, KazTransOil and CaspianGas of Kazakhstan, Azeri Azeriz and many others.

The insulating coating was created for the domestic market, but it was also in demand abroad.

Pipes with the UKRTRUBOIZOL brand were supplied to Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Tunisia, Libya, Lebanon, Nigeria, China, etc.

Pipes with UKRTRUBOIZOL insulation were used for laying by directional horizontal drilling. Pipes Ø530 mm for this facility were insulated at our enterprise and such products were recognized by the contractor Ukrgazbud as high-quality.
