Heat shrinkable materials

In 2013, UKRTRUBOIZOL mastered the technology for the production of heat-shrinkable sleeves (TU U 22.2 – 31017014-004: 2014) for welded joints of pipes with a diameter of 114 – 1420 mm and heat-shrinkable tape (TU U 22.2-31017014-007: 2020) with a width of 110 – 450 mm for pipes with a diameter of 32 – 1420 mm.

Features

Heat-shrinkable pipe insulation sleeves manufactured by UKRTRUBOIZOL on the basis of silane-modified polyethylene provide long-term and maximum reliable corrosion protection for welded joints of underground oil, gas and water pipelines in conditions of corrosive soils, soils with stray currents, etc.

The heat shrinkable pipe sleeves produced by the company is a tape made of silane-modified polyethylene, which is also called chemically cross-linked polyethylene due to its strength and durability.

The main advantage of silane-modified polyethylene is its resistance to high temperatures during the installation of the sleeve (up to + 140 ° C) with short-term peak exposure to a heat source.

Thus, the heat shrinkable sleeve in the form of a cross-linked tape is able to withstand the highest possible overheating when installed on pipe joints.

Heat shrinkable sleeves MTU-120

The products are available in three versions:

Heat-shrinkable sleeves NTU-120 for pipes manufactured by UKRTRUBOIZOL have the stability of the declared physical properties for all products, which ensures the same high level of protection of welded pipe joints as the main factory insulation.

Heat shrinkable sleeve MTU-120 with two-layer protective coating

The sleeve with double-layer insulation, consisting of a layer of cross-linked polyethylene tape and a layer of polymer adhesive, provides a high level of adhesion of the insulating material to the steel pipe wall.

Heat shrinkable sleeve MTU-120 with three-layer protective coating

The sleeve with three-layer insulation, consisting of cross-linked polyethylene tape, polymer adhesive and epoxy primer, provides additional corrosion protection and increased resistance to cathodic peeling.

Heat shrinkable tape STU-120 with a two-layer protective coating

Heat shrinkable tape with double-layer insulation is a polymeric pipe insulation tape that protects steel pipes of gas, oil, water pipelines, as well as welded pipe joints from corrosion and is used as a protective coating for application in the factory or field (highway) conditions.

Insulating tape for pipes STU-120

Insulating (heat-shrinkable) tape STU-120 for pipes manufactured by UKRTRUBOIZOL is a rolled polymeric material consisting of an outer protective polyethylene layer and an inner adhesive composition.

When the heat-shrinkable tape is applied to the pipe and heated, the adhesive layer of the tape melts, filling in all the irregularities on the metal surface, and the polyethylene layer shrinks, tightly pressing the adhesive, which helps to create a continuous coating on the pipe surface similar to the factory one.

Advantages

High level of protection (compared to other polymer pipe coatings) against mechanical damage:

  • High impact resistance and heat resistance.
  • High adhesion to the metal pipe wall.
  • High resistance to cathodic peeling, indentation and transient resistance.
  • Easy to use – fast and reliable repair in the factory and in the field.

Application

Heat shrinkable sleeve and heat shrinkable tape for pipes are used for long-term (about 30 years) and maximum reliable insulation of welded pipe joints of underground oil, gas and water pipelines in conditions of corrosive soils, soils with stray currents, etc.
