Ready for the energy transition! DENSO and UKRTRUBOIZOL provide reliable protection for hydrogen pipelines<\/h3><\/div>

DENSO and UKRTRUBOIZOL actively support the transition to hydrogen energy by providing reliable protection for hydrogen pipelines. DENSO has conducted intensive testing of its anti-corrosion products in laboratories, confirming their ability to operate in the hydrogen atmosphere. <\/p>\n

The test results showed stable material performance, making them suitable for use in new hydrogen systems. Hydrogen (H2) is a key element in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as H2 enables the energy industry in many European countries to switch to low-carbon (CO2) technologies or become climate neutral. H2 is produced by electrolysis, i.e. the splitting of water into its constituent parts oxygen and hydrogen. If the energy required for this process is covered by renewable energy sources such as wind, water or solar, it is called green hydrogen, which is CO2-neutral. <\/p>\n

The use of the high energy density element is beneficial due to another important fact: the infrastructure for transporting hydrogen is largely already in place. Most of the gas pipelines in the German gas network are already H2-ready, storage facilities can be converted, and only individual systems and components need to be adapted. Thus, there are few obstacles to the transition to hydrogen.<\/p>\n<\/div>

DENSO’s readiness:
\nWith the H2-ready label, we confirm the water resistance of our corrosion protection products. We are ready for the energy transition! To ensure this, intensive tests were carried out in the DENSO laboratory. In particular, DENSOLEN\u00ae polyethylene and butyl belts and belt systems, SEALID\u00ae All-in-1, DENSO\u00ae petrolatum belts, DEKOTEC\u00ae and VivaxCoat\u00ae cuffs were tested.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Establishment and examination procedure:<\/h4>\n

1. Reference exciter (Ref): Storage of samples in an airy atmosphere.
2. H2 exciter: storage of samples in hydrogen gas.
Procedure: evacuation using a water jet pump, followed by filling with hydrogen gas to normal pressure using a gas cylinder and 3-way valve. Performed several times to ensure complete exchange of atmosphere.
Samples were stored in both excavators for several days, with the change of atmosphere in the H2 excavator repeated daily.
Finally, the samples were removed from the excavators and various application tests were performed in accordance with the leading international standards ISO 21809-3 and EN 12068.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\nDENSO’s corrosion protection products demonstrate consistent properties in an air atmosphere (Ref) and after exposure to a hydrogen (H2) atmosphere. In particular, the tests conducted in accordance with ISO 21809-3 and EN 12068 for the key product properties of tensile strength, elongation at break and peel resistance remain unchanged. This means that our products can be used without hesitation as passive corrosion protection for hydrogen transportation pipes.<\/p>\n
